THIRD STOP – UNESCO HQ in PARIS for the 50th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention

Paris, France // 16th September – 20th September 2022
It was an honor to be the showcase for UNESCO’s European World Heritage weekend, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention. UNESCO welcomed over 10.000 visitors who were able to immerse and engage with Jafri’s latest Art Maze Collection.

This year, UNESCO celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1972 World Heritage Convention under the theme ‘The Next 50: World Heritage as a source of resilience, humanity and innovation,’ inviting the world to imagine our relationship with, and responsibility for, heritage in the face of rising global challenges.

Jafri’s exhibition of World Heritage Sites, at the UNESCO HQ Great Hall was displayed as sculptural artworks suspended from the ceiling, with the fuselage from the outer skin of a decommissioned Airbus A320-211 as his canvas; part of an upcycling initiative, aligning with Schaefer’s aim to exhibit art outside of the confines of the traditional Gallery Space.

Through his exhibition during the European Heritage Days, Jafri aimed to inspire the public with a new meaning of the love and appreciation of our colorful and fragile world, rooted in his conviction that reflections, dialogues, empathy and collaborative efforts are needed for its conservation and for a better future for the children of our world.

It was the first time the Collection welcomed pieces of Jafri’s Art Maze Collection for general viewing by the wider public.

SECOND STOP —

‘International Mount Everest Day’

Creating unique platforms for Artists to display their work beyond traditional boundaries, creating an experience where the journey is the destination.
Just like real life, the visitors of our Art Maze have the opportunity to choose which path to take. The end point hence becomes the starting point; an eternal cycle in which the journey is the destination. We get to reflect on the unique beauty that surrounds us - without losing sight of the big picture.

— Marcus schaefer

In a world where the metaverse is becoming more of a reality, and where online and physical living is fully integrated, this project is about reconnecting Humanity to the beauty that surrounds us, within our natural world, by re-establishing links with our heritage and cultural history.

— Sacha jafri
